Cristián Fernández Ocampo

“The act of profoundly seeing is eternal and very simple. It could be explored by Argentinian artist, Cristian Fernandez Ocampo, in his oil-based painting titled Noche de Luna, where a couple of marks intend to contain multiple stories in a suspended time. These consecutive marks are formed by scraping the oil painting from the canvas, leaving the foreground as the narrator of the story. Similar to Borges, and his short story which this show was named, the waves in Ocampo’s work embody the role of a container, it dissects the need for a starring figure and opens the room for a speculative cartography in which the spectator could weave in their own.“ – Dulcina Abreu
